Biomedical Engineering uses engineering approaches and solutions to solve human health and wellness related issues. We design, develop and implement solutions for processing and analyzing biomedical data, signals and images based on traditional as well as innovative AI based algorithms to: analyze physiological systems such as the cardiovascular system, the muscular-skeletal system, the nervous system, the metabolic system, and the respiratory system; provide computer-aided decision support systems in diagnostics; and provide solutions for non-invasive health monitoring through diagnostic but also wearable, portable and ambient devices. Our main specific areas of application are: cardiology; human movement science; metabolism; neuroscience; radiology; sport; and pregnancy.
