The DIABETES LAB is dedicated to the development of technologies in the field of studies on diabetes (type 1, type 2 and gestational), metabolism and endocrinology. Activities of the lab include:
modeling and simulation of physiological systems related to metabolism and immunometabolism aimed at the creation of “digital twins”
analysis of data from continuous glucose monitoring (CGM)
development of decision support systems through machine-learning techniques for the prevention of short- and long-term complications of diabetic pathology (such as hypoglycemia due to physical exercise and diabetic retinopathy)
development of methods aimed at personalizing the treatment (such as those for the quantification of individual insulin bioavailability).
