Welcome to the website of the Automation Laboratory (Automation-Lab) led by Dr. Andrea Bonci.

The Automation Laboratory is part of the Information Engineering Department (DII – “Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell’Informazione”) of the “Università Politecnica delle Marche” placed in the city of Ancona in the Marche region that is a region in the center of Italy.
The Marche region is a district of manufacturing companies where the Politechnic University plays an important role in technological innovation of the area.
The Marche region does not only hold the enchanting beauty of the “Riviera del Conero” and the charm of its villages, but also the excitement of ancient culinary traditions where history, art, and culture represent the backdrop of a pristine and genuine landscape.

The mission of the Automation-Lab is to create embedded automatic systems, robots and intelligent systems that are able to autonomously operate in different environments.
We are interested in the mechatronic design, embedded control, firmware programming of systems that autonomously adapt themeself to different situations and that are able to move in uncertain environment.

Our interests are attracted by novel robot concepts that are able to move on the ground in a non traditional way by using wheels, legs or other propulsor, in the air and in the water. We want to give them the intelligence to autonomously navigate in challenging environments. This may includes novel methods and tools for perception, abstraction, mapping and path planning.
We welcome visitors and students to explore our works showed on the web pages.

In particular we invite students of all engineering disciplines to join our “Available Thesis” in “ Robotics, Systems and Control, and to select in their study plan our course of “Automation Laboratory” or, finally, to contact us for one of our different student-projects.
