Description

DANTE is a cutting-edge project focused on supporting the digital transition of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), public administration organizations, and professionals operating in the fields of active and healthy aging, Ambient Assisted Living (AAL), and smart environments. The goal is to ensure that these stakeholders can effectively embrace digital transformation in these strategic areas. The Digital Innovation Hub Accelerator aims to support the European network of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH) to facilitate technological transfer and social innovation.

The DANTE project will have significant impacts on several levels:

  • For end users – mainly older adults and individuals with disabilities – by increasing their autonomy in daily life in terms of safety, reduced loneliness, and support in case of physical or mental conditions.
  • For caregivers (both professional and informal), by providing them with digital information, skills, and tools for continuous monitoring of those under their care, simplifying and optimizing care processes.
  • For public and social-health services, by contributing to cost reduction and improved efficiency and quality of care.
  • For Public Administrations, by supporting communication between administrations (at regional, national, and international levels) and the citizens, professionals, and companies operating in the sectors of active aging and smart, tech-driven living.

The initiative is co-funded by the Digital Europe Programme and the Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, under Mission 4, Component 2, Investment 2.3 of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP). The project activities are structured across four Work Packages (WPs), each with specific goals and responsibilities:

WP1 | Project Management & Quality Assurance.
Formalizes collaboration among partners to leverage their respective expertise and facilitate interaction between the various WPs. This work package oversees project activities in terms of achieved objectives and milestones, deliverables review, legal compliance, and more.

WP2 | DANTE EDIH Design & Setup
Focuses on identifying the needs of businesses, public administrations, and professionals in technologies for living environments supporting healthy and active aging. It also develops a business strategy to attract potential customers to use the services offered by DANTE and the EDIH Network. WP2 defines the service catalog in detail and organizes related delivery activities. End users are involved through advanced co-design methodologies.

WP3 | DANTE EDIH Go-Live, Operation & Improvement
Covers actions enabling the delivery of DANTE services to potential clients. It organizes service provision processes to ensure a high quality level. This WP manages the front-end technologies used to deliver and support DANTE’s services.

WP4 | Communication, Dissemination & Partnership
Focuses on external communication and dissemination. It creates a structured plan to communicate and spread the project results and their impact through marketing campaigns and communication strategies aimed at supporting national and international networking.

The Università Politecnica delle Marche (UNIVPM) plays a key role in supporting the adoption and dissemination of advanced digital technologies aimed at improving quality of life, particularly in the fields of Smart Living and Active and Assisted Living.

Within WP1, UNIVPM supports quality monitoring and performance evaluation, contributing to the definition and implementation of effectiveness, efficiency, and impact indicators. Thanks to its experience in numerous European projects, UNIVPM actively participates in progress assessment, risk management, and continuous improvement activities, ensuring high-quality standards in goal achievement.

Within WP2, UNIVPM contributes to the development and setup of Living Labs and advanced experimental environments, focusing on interoperability, sensors, comfort, and safety, with special attention to the usability of proposed solutions.

In the context of WP3, UNIVPM provides advanced training services through specialized and multidisciplinary programs aimed at strengthening the digital skills of companies, public administrations, and professionals. The training content focuses on artificial intelligence, robotics, assistive technologies, sensors, cybersecurity, and big data for health, combining theoretical and practical approaches. These are complemented by “Test Before Invest” actions, based on simulation platforms, experimental infrastructures, and co-design capacities involving end users and local stakeholders.

UNIVPM is also actively involved in WP4, supporting the definition and implementation of the communication and dissemination plan. The team contributes to the production of scientific and outreach materials, participates in public and scientific event organization, and promotes the project within the academic, industrial, and institutional communities, both nationally and across Europe. With its presence in major European networks and a solid international collaboration network, UNIVPM also fosters strategic partnerships and synergies with other EDIHs and stakeholders, enhancing the project’s visibility and impact.

Through these diverse activities, UNIVPM strengthens its commitment to inclusive and sustainable digital innovation, promoting the development of advanced technological solutions serving individuals, healthcare, businesses, and public administrations.
